Reference
Welcome to the Tranthor Glossary! Here you’ll find concise definitions for key terms you’ll encounter as you build and automate customer engagement on Tranthor.
Action
A step in a Journey that performs work—most often sending a message to a user on a Channel such as email or SMS.
Campaign
A programmatic approach to customer engagement. Campaigns in Tranthor automate how, when, and to whom messages are sent across various channels. Journeys are a type of campaign, built as a series of steps and automations.
CDP
Customer Data Platform. A system that centralizes user data from multiple sources for use in downstream business tools—marketing, analytics, CRM, and more. Popular CDPs include Segment.
Channel
A medium for delivering messages to users. Common channels include email, SMS, push notifications, and in-app messaging. Tranthor makes it easy to reach users wherever they are.
ESP
Email Service Provider. Services that handle the infrastructure and deliverability required for reliable email messaging at scale (e.g., SendGrid, Postmark, Amazon SES).
Event
A single record of a user’s activity—like a page view, purchase, or login. Events are the building blocks for segmentation, triggers, and analytics in Tranthor.
In-App Messaging
Messages shown directly within your app or website, like onboarding popups or personalized banners. Useful for guiding users and boosting engagement without leaving your platform.
Integration
Connecting Tranthor to other platforms and tools. Integrations fall into three main types:
- Data Source: Import user or event data into Tranthor.
- Destination: Export enriched data from Tranthor to other systems.
- Channel: Enable messaging via email, SMS, or other mediums.
Journey
An automated sequence combining triggers, actions, and logic to deliver personalized experiences at scale. Journeys can onboard users, recover abandoned carts, run promotions, and more—all hands-off.
Other platforms may call these “workflows,” “automations,” or “sequences,” but in Tranthor, journeys are the centerpiece of campaign automation.
Reverse ETL
The process of syncing data from your warehouse (like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery) back into business tools (like Tranthor or Salesforce) to activate insights and drive messaging.
Segment
A dynamic group of users defined by shared attributes or behaviors—like region, product usage, or engagement history. Segments help target the right users with the right message at the right time.
Template
Reusable message layouts containing logic and variables for dynamic personalization. Templates in Tranthor streamline content creation for emails, SMS, and more.
Webhook
A mechanism for real-time data transfer between applications. Tranthor can both receive and send webhook notifications, enabling instant updates and integrations without polling.
Workspace Member
Anyone with access to your Tranthor workspace, such as teammates collaborating on campaigns, data, and analytics.
